Change.

I learned something the other day. Your throat chakra is not only the center for communication, creativity and expression, but also for change. When something is changing within you, you may feel it in your throat.
This makes me excited because when I was giving a treatment to my teacher, I noticed that she coughed to herself quite a few times.
This can be stubbornness and resistance to change, or change occurring.

I'm excited because one of my best friends has discovered where her psychic expertise lies. We're all psychic in different ways. Maybe you tend to see things (clairvoyance) or hear them(clairaudience) or just feel things within your gut (clairsentience). We all have different ways of viewing and interacting with the world.

I consider my strength to be work with Crystals, just like hers appears to be dreams. The ability to Dream Walk could potentially make her an incredibly gifted and powerful healer. If she masters Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection, she could potentially influence someones subconscious. She could find out someones fears and why they fear them, and let them know that they are safe and can't be hurt. She could even possibly go back to someones child hood, and bring them comfort there.
The possibilities are endless!!

Something Beautiful

Last night was wonderful because I got to take part in a reiki share. It involved my teacher, her best friend, and another one of her students. I was really happy to see that my intuition is growing, because my teacher hadn't been particularly specific with which house was hers. So I got off the trolley(yes really, Philadelphia has trolleys) and said "God/higher self/intuition, let me know when we get there. So as I was walking down the street that I was told to go to, my feet suddenly just stopped. I looked over at the house beside me and said "well that one looks likely" and saw my Teachers face pop out of the window! Having historically had a hopelessly terrible sense of direction, I personally thought this was the most exciting thing ever!

We did power reiki, in which instead of just one healer and one receiver, there are many healers all around channeling healing into you. It's fun having a team! I like learning/doing spiritual work with company.

My teacher took the most work, but probably because she was the most open to her own spiritual ascension and expansion. During her session, I assumed the role of leader as my partner quietly supported me. I found it interesting he gave quite a bit of reiki to me as we gave someone else a session, which by the way was great. I combined the reiki for her with Integrated Energy Therapy as well. I had brought crystals with me and a couple of them helped too. At first I put Red Jasper behind her neck, and a quartz crystal at her feet. After a couple of minutes, I switched them. My partner asked if I had done a polarity reversal. I still need to google what that could mean.

During my session, we were apparently assisted by frog totems. My teachers best friend said that she couldn't get frogs out of her head. Other student said that perhaps it was the music that was playing at the time, which did have a hopping, springy, froggy sound to it. I suggested that perhaps it was cosmically timed to play when the frogs arrived.

When we looked up "frog medicine" we found that frogs are harbingers of spiritual cleansing, and transition, and releasing your inner voice-all of which apply to me perfectly at the moment, and certainly at the time of the reiki session. They are also heavily associated with rain, and sometimes fertility. http://www.suite101.com/content/frog-totems-a62439    http://www.linsdomain.com/totems/pages/frog.htm

I also found that during my receiving, I was suddenly able to see auras. I had been affirming to myself that I can see with perfect, crystal clarity since I've always had such poor vision. I've been wearing glasses since second or third grade. It's rare that I come across someone with vision the same as or worse than mine.

Which brings me to my epiphany this morning. I was reading the section of You Can Heal Your Life by Louis L. Hay. In the book she was going through each part of the body and what it represented, and how certain thought patterns affect our body's. So I come to THE EYES. Eyes are of course, both literally and figuratively, you're capacity to see. "When there are problems with the eyes, it usually means that there is something we do not want to see, either about ourselves or about life: past, present, or future. Whenever I see small children wearing glasses, I know that there is stuff going in their household that they do not want to look at. If they can't change the experience, they will diffuse the sight so they don't have to see it so clearly." (pg 125)
I had read about this before, but never before had it clicked quite like it did when I read that. I felt emotion well up inside me, and started wracking my brains to figure out what I could've been so afraid to see as a child. It was so long ago after all. It occurred to be that there could have been a lot of things... arguments and fights. The clear unhappiness of people close to me. Always afraid of the future (nearsighted people in particular are said to be afraid of the future as opposed to far sighted people who are afraid of the present).
As I figured out from Integrated Energy Therapy, I perceived threat to my safety everywhere I went as a kid. I was always afraid of being yelled at. Afraid of certain angry people in my family who could blow up at any moment. And who know's what they were capable of when they were angry like that?
But I also realized something even bigger and more important than that! I realized that this is something that I still do today. When something stressful come up and I have a problem, something that's maybe a little bit scary, such as figuring out my college financial aid(which I am now paying for), I choose to ignore the potentially stressful problem and pretend that it doesn't exist. I won't even look at it. I choose to turn a blind eye. How fascinating it is to notice how we use language to say thing that we know intuitively. Things we don't even know we know.

How many of you who are nearsighted do the same thing? Stall, or put off facing your problems?

I know that this was the start of what I have no doubt will be a great healing process, because you can't fix a problem if you don't even know what it is. I wish I would've known about all of this when I was a child, crying and sobbing because I wanted to be able to see. It turns out that I couldn't because somewhere deep inside, i didn't REALLY want to see.

So now I will affirm to myself: "I accept Divine guidance and am always safe. I trust the process of life."

I hope I brought a little trust in the world to the woman that I met last night. She stopped me in the street in front of my dorm as I was returning home from the reiki share. She was talking quickly because she didn't want to waste anyones time. She also said that the police had told her she could go around and ask the students for help, so as to prove that she wasn't scamming us. She said happy holidays first and then went on to explain how her boyfriend kicked her out of his car and left her stranded in Philadelphia. She said to me "I live very far away in Newark, New Jersey.. I have three dollars to my name." I could see the tears in her eyes as she desperately struggled not to cry. She was begging for money for a ticket to go home or even just a token. She said that I could go with her to the police or watch her buy a ticket to prove that she wasn't scamming me.
She brought up this memory of a woman who I met on the train. I took her to the grocery store that she was looking for since I already knew where it was. She told me that once she had stood in front of the train station in front of my school to ask for money because she was a quarter short. She just need one quarter to get on the train and go home, and no one would give it to her.
So as I looked at this woman in front of me I said "I believe you" and pulled $20 and a token out of my wallet. Theres enough abundance and wealth in this world for all of us, so why not share it? Especially seeing as she certainly needed it more than I did at the time. And God had put her on my path at that exact moment for a reason. It was way to cold out there for someone to be wandering around lost and without a way to get home. If you see someone in trouble, take the time to stop and help out. Even if it's in the smallest of ways, you could change someones life.

I hugged her and she was jumping up and down for joy. She told me her name (although I've already forgotten @_@) and I told her mine. The tears of desperation were replaced with tears of joy and smiles. I hope I replaced all of her fear and feeling of loss with something beautiful. She said that I had made her night and went on and on telling me how God was going to bless me and thanking me. She was still thanking me as we parted ways and she was walking down the street. It felt good. :)

Miss, I hope you got home safe. May your life be ever full of kindness and abundance. Happy holidays.

Good Vibrations :D

I really need to make this whole meditation thing a habit. In my search for finding spiritual awakening, the one safe, surefire method that I always came across was (drum roll pleas) MEDITATION.

It's something that sounds easy enough. You just clear your mind and sit there for a while right? Yet it's something that so many people have trouble with. They either can't shut up their minds or like me, make excuses about how they don't have the time and don't do it.

Perhaps it is because there is no one right way to meditate. Everybody's method is a little different. Some use mantra's like with the famous sound of "om". It is the sound of the universe, one with All. It is also the sound associated with the third eye chakra.

The body has within it chakras, which in Sanskrit means "wheel of light". No, I am not talking about Naruto. But many of the idea's in the manga/anime Naruto came from spiritual ideas.

Chakras are the major centers for energy in your body. Energy spirals from one to another and all throughout your body. It is usually said that there are seven major chakras: the Crown(7th), Third Eye(6th), Throat(5th), Heart(4th), Solar Plexus(3rd), Sacral(2nd), and Root (1rst)Chakras. Each charkra represents a certain color of light and sound frequency, a certain physical gland, and most importantly, a certain aspect of our health.

They have sanskrit names and and symbols, presented as flowering petals.

Lets start from #1.
Root Chakra:
Color- Red
Chant: LAM
Musical Note- Note: C
Glands-Adrenal
Element-Earth

The root chakra is the center of physical energy and vitality, the energy to succeed in business or material possessions and is related to our survival instincts, and to our sense of grounding and connection to our bodies and the physical plane.

#2 The Sacral Charkra
Color- Orange
Chant-VAM
Musical Note-D
Glands-Gonads
Element- Water

The second chakra, located in the abdomen, lower back, and sexual organs, is related to emotions and sexuality. This chakra brings us fluidity and grace, depth of feeling, sexual fulfillment, and the ability to accept change.

#3 The Solar Plexus

Color-Gold
Chant-RAM
Musical Note-E
Glands-Pancreas
Element-Fire

The chakra of personal power, will, and autonomy, as well as our metabolism. When healthy, this chakra brings us bright, vibrant energy, effectiveness, and spontaneity. Located at your stomach, below your rib cage.

#4 The Heart Chakra

Color-Green
Chant-YAM
Musical Note-F
Glands-Thymus
Element-Air

While the lower chakras of the root, sacral, and solar plexus are earthly and more associated with the physical and slower, denser frequencies, the higher chakras of the throat, third eye and crown are more mental and spiritual. These are higher frequency, faster vibration energies. And the heart chakra? It acts as a gateway, combining and balancing all energy: mind and body, male and female, etc. It allows us to love deeply and truly, be compassionate, love ourselves, and be at peace.

#5 The Throat Chakra

Color- Blue
Chant-HAM
Musical Note-G
Glands-Thyroid
Element-Sound

This chakra is the energy of expression, communication creation, and manifestation. Very important for the Law of Attraction. :)

#6 The Third Eye/Brow Chakra

Color-Indigo/Royal Blue
Chant-OM
Musical Note-A
Glands-Pituitary
Element-Light

The chakra that Indigo Children embody at their core. It is the center of psychic ability such as clairvoyance/clairvoyance. When it is balanced you will be highly intuitive, perceptive, and in-tune with the spiritual beings/guides around you. Located within your forehead.

#7 The Crown

Color- White or purple
Chant-NG
Musical Note-B
Glands-Pineal
Element-Thought

This chakra connects us to the divine. When the crown chakra is balanced we are released from ego driven desires, we are able to trust in our highest guidance and know that we are guided in all that we do. Located at the top of your head.

The last time I meditated was during my Reiki 2 attunement. Reiki is an ancient method of healing for channeling Universal healing energy through the hands. Reiki Master teachers pass on the power of reiki through attunements. There are three levels- reiki 1, 2, and Master level. It was brought to world at large about 100 years ago by a Japanese man named Mikao Usui.

My reiki 2 teacher is a Shaman Elder, who attuned me through the shamanic realm. Although technically all attunements are given by Dr. Usui.

In preparation for the attunement, my teacher told me that I needed to find somewhere sacred, and do whatever I needed to in order to make the experience feel holy. Light some candles, burn some incense, say a prayer, etc. I love fire, so it's a shame I couldn't burn anything.

I'm such a pyro, but I live in a dorm with smoke detectors that freak out at even a whiff of popcorn, and then everyone has to evacuate the building no matter what they're doing. Yes, including if you're in the shower... -_-# Those damn alarms are SO loud. You might as well have a drill sergeant in front of you screaming GET OUT BITCH YOU'RE GONNA DIE OMG FASTER FASTER FASTER

But I digress.

I stated that to make anything truly sacred required the presence of a certain special person, not a place for me.

Here is my epic experience of epicness.

I placed all of my crystals around me. I LOVE crystals. Even more than I love chocolate or dinosaurs. Or even fire. And that's saying a lot. I feel a deep connection with them and use them for healing as often as possible. I asked my spirit guides if there was anything they needed to show or tell me, and they said that the only thing was to stay fully within and aware of my body.

As I sat there on my bed meditating, within a few minutes I could feel intense, powerful vibrations as I sat there in my room. This had only happened twice before. Once this past summer, but it was a state that took me three hours of meditation to reach. The second time was during a guided meditation led by my wonderful reiki 1 teacher http://learnreikiphiladelphia.com/ involving the combining of earth and cosmic energy. But this time, it took way less time to reach this state, and it was more intense than ever. It started within my heart chakra as usual, and eventually spilled over into my solar plexus. It felt something akin to if someone had taken my heart out and replaced it with one of those little portable CVS back massagers. That's as far as it's ever gone. But THIS time, I felt the tingly vibrations in my arms and feet. It spread all the way up to my knees and elbows over time. None of this was visible mind you. This was all on a whole other non physical level.

Because I feel that this should be shared with the world, here is the aforementioned guided meditation given to us by my Reiki 1 teacher. Have someone read it to you, or record yourself saying it. I personally wouldn't be able to do the voice recording thing, because I'd be too busy going WHOA THAT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE ME O_O

Anywho, here it is. My gift to you :D

Namaste

Meditation - Introduction to Grounding in your Physical Body

We’ve found that is preferable to do this meditation sitting on a chair or sofa with feet flat on the ground. This will help you feel your connection with the Earth.

· Sit comfortably and close your eyes.

· Begin to focus on your breathe. Notice how it flows into your lungs and out. Do not try to change your breathe, just notice it.

· Breathe in light and exhale all tension.

· Feel your body relax and sink into the chair or couch.

· If your mind begins to chatter, gently bring your attention to your breathe.

· Begin to visualize or imagine tiny roots coming out through the soles of your feet and the bottom of your spine. Feel them getting longer and longer, reaching down through the chair and the floor, all the way down into the earth. Continue to breathe in light, exhaling tension and feel the roots grab hold of the earth, firmly connecting you to the earth.

· On the next inhalation, imagine you can breathe through your roots. Draw the earth energy up through your roots into your body until it fills your heart. Let the earth energy then course throughout your entire body. Feel the earth energy as it roots you to this planet.

· Bring your attention from your roots to the top of your head, the crown chakra. Imagine a small hole on the top of your head and visualize this hole beginning to open. From this opening, tiny fibers are emerging, long filaments reaching up like branches through the ceiling, through the building, all the way up into the clouds and finally reaching out into the cosmos. Imagine these fibers connecting you to all the planets and stars.

· As you inhale, breathe in the energy of the cosmos, bringing it down through the fibers, into your heart. Let the energy fill you with the radiant light of the cosmos. Feel it course throughout your entire body.

· Now, breathe in both streams of energy, up from the earth and down from the cosmos at the same time. Allow these two energies to merge in the heart and radiate through the rest of your body. Keep breathing in the energy, Up from the earth, Down from the cosmos. You are now anchored securely between the earth and the cosmos.

· When you are ready, become aware of your body in this space. Feel the chair beneath you. Feel your body. Listen to the sounds around you. Slowly open your eyes.

Why we think the way we do.

Recently I read a magnificent book called You Can Heal Your Life. It explores how we interact with the universe via thought. When you think positive and put out positive energy, you get positive things back. When you think negative thoughts, you get bad things in your life. For those of you who don't know, this is called The Law of Attraction-the universes first and foremost law. A little bit like FMA's law of equivalent exchange for all of my fellow anime nerds out there. The author of the book, Louise Hays, puts heavy emphasis pn positive affirmations.

What I like about the book is that the author provides excerises to help you bring in forgiveness and positivity in your life instead of just a vague "thinking positive is good. Do it and your life will bed better. Good luck!" Sometimes when people speak about the Law of Attraction it sort of feels a bit like "heres a flashlight so you can finally see in the metaphorical dark!! Now we're going to spin you around three times and give a little push. Good luck with that! :D" Or like giving someone their first ever computer and telling them about all of the extraordinary life changing things that it is capable of but not expaling how to use this new tool .It's the same learning curve. Because people don't know how to apply the Law of Attraction, they get discouraged about "this positive thinking crap" and say that it doesn't work. You Can Heal Your Life however, does an excellent job of explaining things.

The author also spends a lot of time on the subject of forgiveness and how important it is. So let go of the grudge you have against the jerk who stole your lunch money in the third grade!
For a lot of people, the hardest people to forgive are your parents. We have the longest history with them. We sometimes blame them for all that is wrong with us, because "they weren't ever there for me" or "they don't understand me" and so forth. But as Louise Hay explains, we are victims of victims. They can not do anything more than what THEY were taught growing up, and we all just do the best we can with what we have. And if you blame someone for what's happened in your life, you are essentially giving away your personal power.

My favorite exercise is the one on negative messages. The idea is that the way you talk to yourself and think about yourself is pretty much the same way that your parents spoke to you when you were a very small child. She asks you to make a list of all the negative messages you heard when you were a child. The things that your parents said were wrong with you. What did they say about money, your body, love and relationships, your creative talents, etc. Take about half an hour to write it all down. Now do it again  but this time write what you heard from your relatives, teachers, friends, authority figures, church, etc. Now you can look at these things objectively and say "Thats where that belief came from". But it isnt YOUR belief. So you can begin to remove it from your consciousness. You can even turn these things around into positive affirmations. For example, change "You're a fat fatty. Look at you there with your fatness." to "your body is perfect and you are lovable."
Its quite amazing how much comes up. Here's just a small part of my list:

  • We are poor
  • Men can't be trusted. They control and manipulate women.
  • You can't get fat. Fat people are ugly.
  • You're too skinny.
  • You're lazy.
  • You arent trustworthy.
  • You can't go to a good college because we can't afford it.
  • You're disrespectful.
  • Sex is dirty, wrong and disrespectful.
  • The world is a scary, cruel, dangerous place full of violent murderers, rapists, and molesters. You should be afraid.
  • The world is frustrating and hard to survive in.
  • Young people are all good for nothing hooligans.
  • You're a scatterbrain.
  • You forget everything and aren't reliable.
  • Adults don't have fun.
That's just the beginning. But even though these were the messages I perceived, I'm sure the people who raised me were not at all aware of sending out these messages.

So I changed the above to positive affirmations.
  • I can be infinitely rich if I so choose, and my life is always full of abundance.
  • I have a wonderful life partner, twin flame, and soul mate, who is perfect in every way and on every level.
  • My body is perfect and beautiful just the way it is.
  • I am an honest and hard worker.
  • I am trusted on the deepest and most profound level there is by all.
  • The world is a safe and friendly place, full of loving people.
  • Everything I need comes to me with ease.
  • Sex is a holy and sacred union in which two souls touch with pure sublime love.
  • All of life, from youth to adulthood to old age, is a fun adventure.
  • You have an intelligent, excellent brain and memory that can be trusted and relied upon for anything.
The more you begin to truly believe these positive things, the more they manifest in your life.

Bottom line: I think everyone should read this book. You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay.

What one person can do.

Ever have that one point in your life where you can look back and see how everything changed from there?

That happened to me a few months ago in Chinatown NYC.

I went there for a day with my boyfriend, one of my best friends, and her boyfriend. We have a name for the four of us. We call our group, The Trio.
So this lil chick walks up my best friend, who happens to be wearing a mudkip hat and say "do u liek mudkipz?". And of course she responds "yesh I liek mudkipz". Fans of 4chan and internet memes will understand.
So this odd little lady says to us that her and her friend who's with her are looking for friends and asked if we could all hang out.
So as we made our journey across Manhattan we spoke of mudkipz, zombies, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and all manner of other awesomesauce things.

Now I no longer remember how we got on the subject of the spiritual and paranormal. I think it was because she noticed my new tarot cards, which by the way, I was incredibly proud of.
I have a deviant moon deck.

Anyway, that day she shared with me tons of FASCINATED experiences with which she absolutely enraptured and ensnared my attention, like Justin Bieber to a 12 year old girl with no musical taste. I kept in contact with her and she told me things like
  • She was an indigo child as discovered when she went to a psychic. The psychic could see aura's. The moment she saw her the psychic told her to "go downstairs where there's a book on Indigo Children".
  • I am an indigo child too. http://www.namastecafe.com/evolution/indigo/
  • The aura has many layer which can change, however the layer at the core, closest to your physical body never changes. It is with you from birth until death. For the "indigo children", the color of this core layer is... guess. Did you guess it? Ding ding ding! Indigo!
  •  She noted that my aura and my boyfriend's aura's were really compatible. They were different but still somehow worked really well with each other. I've had many, not so psychic people tell me that we seem to be on the same wavelength and are extremely in sync. <3
  • She could astral project at will and would teach me (although sadly she never did.) Meaning that she could project a small part of her soul out of her body to travel on the astral plane, the realm parallel to ours. Like a shaman. In shamanism, the soul can leave the body any time it wants and often does in the midst of traumatic or painful experiences in order to protect itself. This is okay, as long as TOO much of the soul doesn't leave. On the astral plane, there is no time or space so you can literally go WHEREVER you want. She had even traveled to other realms. She explained that her soul was split and that the other half of her soul in fact inhabited another body on another realm. According to her, other realms don't necessarily even have the same laws of physics as ours. If you visit another one of these realms, you will be like a ghost there. She stated that in her other body, in this other world, she felt more at home than here.
  • She could see and read auras from her astrally projected state. If she wanted, she could instantly tell a strangers entire personalities.
  • According to her, angels and demons are order and chaos respectively, as opposed to strictly good and evil. Humans have the capacity to choose either.
  • Her body is nice and roomy since part of her soul is split I suppose. So she shares it with a demon. She says that they are both being punished. The demon had been banished for choosing order over chaos.
  • People have elements within in them that affect their personality. I later learned that these elements are based on your astrological chart, and where all of the planets were at the moment of your birth.
Is your head exploding yet? Has your brain short circuited and spontaneously combusted into a fiery inferno while your mind spits at all, trying to put out the fire by saying its all ridiculous nonsense? Give it a minute. Let that all sink in. Let it digest.

The thing of it is, this girl was a perfectly normal twenty something year old who like zombies movies and pokemon.

And so something re-awoke within me. Something that had been itching for a while. I turned off or hid away when I was a child out of fear. Yet I had always been fascinated with the paranormal. Captivated by what lies on the other side.

I've also recently realized that my immense attraction to anything that sparkles, shines, or shimmers isn't just me being a spazz, but helps to urge on my love of and desire to work with crystals.

When I was a child I would see and hear and feel many many things that were eventually dismissed as imaginary friends. Sometimes I was afraid of them. Because I didn't know what they were, and there certainly wasn't anyone around to explain it to me. I didn't know how to ask my spirit guides for help and protection, or even that they existed. So when I saw something scary, I chose to stop seeing. When I had a bad dream, I chose to stop dreaming.

Until this something that was locked away refused to be bound any longer.

Beginning the Journey

I don't even know where to begin.

I'm creating this blog because it was something I always wanted to try, but never knew what to write about. Then one day I realized that it's that thing you ramble on about. The thing you won't shut up about once given the chance to speak about it. The one you annoy all of your friends with. That's your passion. Thats the thing you should find a way to spend your life doing, to blog about or make a career out of, etc.

For me that thing is spirituality.

About two months ago I started learning something called reiki. (I'll explain in due time) My teacher told us to keep a journal of all of our spiritual experiences. So I did, and I'll transfer everything I wrote from there to here. I'm just moving my journal here for the good people of the interwebs to see.

I don't know that I'll change anybody's life like some blogs aspire to do, but hopefully something that I say somewhere, will mean something to someone out there. Even if it's just not feeling alone or embracing the intuitive part of yourself. Even if its only ever just one person.

So I'll be posting to chronicle my experiences from this summer up until now, along with anything else noteworthy that comes along.

Love and light to the world. <3
